T.J. Hardaway is the newly appointed State Representative for Tennessee House District 93, carrying forward a legacy of public service rooted in advocacy, community empowerment, and a deep love for Memphis.
Born and raised in Memphis, T.J. learned early the importance of fighting for people who often feel unheard. As the son of the late Representative G.A. Hardaway, Sr., he witnessed firsthand what it meant to serve with purpose, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the community. From attending community meetings and campaign events as a child to later serving as an intern and assistant within his father’s legislative office, T.J. developed a strong understanding of government, constituent services, and the responsibility that comes with public office.
Before his appointment to the Tennessee House of Representatives, T.J. worked behind the scenes in community outreach, political campaigns, and district operations, helping residents navigate issues involving state agencies, neighborhood concerns, and access to resources. His experience gave him a close view of the challenges families across Memphis face every day — from economic inequality and public safety to education, healthcare, and opportunities for young people.
Now serving as State Representative for District 93, T.J. is focused on protecting voting rights, expanding economic opportunity, supporting public education, investing in safer communities, and ensuring Memphis has a strong voice at the Capitol. He believes leadership is about showing up, listening, and delivering results for the people.
T.J. views this moment not simply as continuing a family legacy, but as honoring the trust the community has placed in him. He remains committed to serving District 93 with integrity, accessibility, and a relentless focus on moving Memphis forward.
